Making progress....

So I've made progress with my experience book mock ups because I now have decided what the casing for the book will look like. I'll be making a cake out of styrofoam and decorating the exterior. The top of the cake will be taken off and inside the circular book can be found. The only thing is, I haven't decided what type of decoration or color the exterior is going to be.

So I have 3 prototypes Im working with for my book idea. Im still trying to figure out how I should bind it together.

Lecture

Tonights lecture on environment/interior design was semi informative. Every time I listen to a lecture of a certain major, it makes me realize that I am completely sure that I am in the right major of illustration because although these other majors have something different to offer, for me, mine interests me the most.

New Project

Im actually excited to be starting this new project. It was easy to pick my experience. I'll be doing the experience of baking a cake since I do it often. :)

Final Chairs

I was very impressed to see all the different ways minimalism was expressed through building a seat. Some were elaborate and some were simple, but yet appealing. I surprised myself in this project with just the fact that I could actually build something!

Done!!

My chair is now complete!! I am happy with the result. I also am happy that I was surrounded by kind, helpful people that were able to help me out with making the chair. I learned some new things with this whole experience, but am sure I will not be building "things" anytime soon.

The chair project

The whole designing and making/building the chair hasn't been entirely terrible. I can't say that I've technically enjoyed it, but it hasn't been too bad.

Cardboard chairs...

As I am about to finalize mine, I think it looks visually interesting as well as communicates and interesting story. Before I had determined my chair design, I had googled images of cardboard chairs and was amazed at how many people have legitimately built chairs and all sorts of furniture from cardboard. The BIG difference though is that these people were allowed to use all kinds of fasteners :)

Hallmark for Interiors

The hallmark this past monday night was somewhat interesting, but I was slightly disappointed because the speaker spent more time talking about the one project instead of showing more pictures of his designs from other projects.

Sketches...

Today's movie presented in lecture, "Sketches of Frank Ghery" was interesting and inspiring. It was interesting to see Frank's process that leads him to his final designs. Something I hope to develop is my creative process. I want to be able to have an interesting creative process that will lead me to spectacular final designs! :)
